A warm burrito,
no questions asked,
in the 419.

Burrito Blessings 419 is a neighbor-run effort out of Toledo, Ohio, handing out hand-rolled vegetarian burritos, water, snacks, and donated clothing — made so anyone, of any faith or diet, can simply take what they need.

How it started

Three faiths, one folding table, one Saturday.

In 2023, volunteers from Grace Lutheran Church, Memorial Lutheran Church, and The Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo set out to fix a small, specific problem: most bagged-lunch giveaways couldn't feed everyone. Someone was always left checking an ingredient list.

So they built a menu around the one thing that could clear every dietary and religious restriction at once — a hand-rolled vegetarian burrito, packed with water and a bag of snacks. They set up on Monroe Street with hand-lettered signs and waved people in. That first Saturday, about ten volunteers served about ten neighbors.

A few months later they added clothing. Then a second site downtown. Today the crew is nearly five times its original size, and local barbers and stylists show up some Saturdays to donate haircuts alongside the burritos.

What we bring

Food is the reason people stop. It isn't the only thing they leave with.

Every distribution carries three things, and none of them are optional add-ons — they're the whole point.

Food

Hand-rolled vegetarian burritos, water, and a bag of snacks — built to work for any faith's dietary rules, no exceptions asked about and none required.

Clothing

Donated, sustainable clothing added within months of the first Saturday, plus the occasional volunteer haircut from local barbers and stylists.

Care

Volunteers who know names, not just orders — conversation, companionship, and the occasional quiet gift card handed over because someone had a feeling.

Locations & dates

The board, this month.

Both sites run once a month. Show up early — the West Toledo line now forms before the posted start time.
